POTTERY IS NOT CREATIVE

What is creativity?

There are so many definitions..but I like the one below the most :

"Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality.

Creativity is characterised by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions.

Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing.

If you have ideas, but don’t act on them, you are imaginative but not creative."

Pottery is NOT CREATIVE. It is much MORE. You start working with clay and you have an idea what you want to achieve. And when your piece is ready.. it does not match your initial design.

And this is what I love about pottery. It's not about thinking and then producing. It's about letting your imagination go and let the magic to happen.
